Classification of Industrial Coatings
In general, coatings can be divided into two parts: architectural coatings and industrial coatings. According to the general definition, industrial coatings cover traffic coatings, other coatings, etc. Under traffic coatings, automotive coatings, marine coatings, etc. can be subdivided. Industrial coatings in various fields such as automobiles, ships, municipal engineering, and amusement facilities.
So far, there is no unified division method for the varieties and categories of industrial paint in China, and it is customary to use the following 4 methods to classify industrial paint:
1) Classification according to the category of base material Industrial paint can be divided into asphalt paint, alkyd paint, amino paint, epoxy paint, polyurethane paint, acrylic paint, silicone paint, cellulose paint, rubber paint and other paints.
2) According to the gloss of the coating film, it can be divided into: high-gloss paint, matte paint, flat paint.
3) According to the use of the part, it can be divided into: primer, middle coat, topcoat.
4) According to the function of use: it can be divided into decorative paint and special functions such as solvent resistant paint, fireproof paint, waterproof paint, elastic paint, etc.
5) Industrial paint is mainly used for mechanical equipment, various machine tools, lathes, equipment surfaces, to play the effect of decoration, anti-corrosion and anti-rust.
6) Marine paint, ship paint is a field of industrial paint with high technical content, including deck paint, waterline paint, ballast bin coating, antifouling paint, hull paint, etc.
7) Exterior wall paint, industrial exterior wall paint is different from civil exterior wall paint, often applied to surface construction, chemical anti-corrosion and other special fields, for the period of use, appearance effect, anti-corrosion requirements, etc.
8) Special substrate paint. For example, stainless steel and galvanized steel require special primers to have good adhesion. PVC, ABS and other plastic materials also need special paint to paint without damaging the substrate, FRP is also a special substrate for industrial paint coating.
